Week 3 Bulletin

My homemade bread on perfect winter days,

My optimism, ever-shining as it is, has gotten a spectacular boost this week(end). I am a love loyalist, an absolute believer. I have delved deep, analyzed sharply, contemplated the chemical reaction, and come up every time with a full heart.

It's a funny thing, love, the way it flits & floats & permeates our lives in so many ways. We're surrounded by it all the time, it's just a matter of attuning ourselves. Changing our breath. Accepting.

We are, after all, pack animals; meant to share space, affection. It's an essential layer of our being. I'm not just talking about fairytales & candlelight here, folks.

Anyway, let's all bask in the glow of love & joy (there's lots here in the hippie house) while I convey the good word:

Email
We've got a new email system! If you're confused, ask Andrew ('cause I don't
quite get it either). It seems very user-friendly!

Bi-Weekly Meetings
The minutes from the first bi-weekly co-op meeting are attached. At the last meeting, there was discussion of visiting the gorgeous chickens that supply our eggs, fixin' up our little the garden, increasing involvement, and heaps of other stuff. Check the minutes for full details.

The next meeting is 12:00pm on 19 August in the shop (or just outside if it's a pretty day). Please join us for snacks & discussions of important co-op business!

Welcome-Back Chai & Pot-Luck
Come one, come all! Join your beautiful co-op friends for a fun-fun pot-luck dinner with yummy, yummy chai tea on Wednesday 13 August in Arc Training Room 1 in the Roundhouse (see how easy I'm making it for ya'll to pick out the key words?). Please turn up at 4:30 if you've got goodies for a 5:00pm start.

It's going to be fun! I mean, have you been to your co-op? Have you noticed how completely gorgeous & amazing all of the members are? You know you'd like to join us!
Questions to Lah!

Volunteers
(Warning, Meghan gettin' a smidge cross!)
Look, ya'll, here's the thing: the co-op needs you. We can not and will not run without volunteers. We need people on every shift, every day. Trust me, the co-op is much more vibrant & meaningful when you're fully engaged in it, volunteering once a week or once a month for an hour or two, getting to know the other members, and getting in touch with your community.
Please sign up for a shift today. It is especially important to have people at open and close. In fact, we desperately need someone for Thursday close; no coordinator should ever have to close by him or herself, especially after a ten-hour day.

See http://www.thoughtfulfoods.org.au/roster for open shifts, give the shop a call, or simply pop by to see if we need help. Odds are good that we will.
Remember, there are tangible perks in additional to the psychological ones: 25% - 40% off goods in the shop depending on how much time you put in. Not too shabby, eh?
Eggs
Please contact Lauren or Lah for eggs by Tuesday morning.
Because, hey, eggs are delicious. Because Michele is one of the coolest people on the planet. Because you like chickens, especially happy ones.

Please note, I've messed up dear Lauren's email address a few weeks running. The correct address is: Laurentarr@gmail.com. Put it in your contacts. Cheers!
Veggies
We had apple & banana pancakes for breakfast, nibbled on oranges at midday, and finished the evening with a gorgeous veggie soup with celery, greens, pumpkin, and potato. Rumors abound of stir-fried greens atop pumpkin soup tomorrow (okay, it's not a rumor, it's my plan for dinner).

Life is better with a veggie box.
To experience the infinite joy of fresh, seasonal produce, have your veggie order under the door before we open on Wednesday mornings, paid in full. Please write the date clearly--if we can't read the date, we're going to assume you mean the current week.
You absolutely must pick up your veggies before we close on Thursday. No exceptions. Please include your landline & mobile numbers on your veggie forms if there's a problem, and call us if you're running late. That'd be awesome. Wicked cool, even.
Also, a special thank you to Paul Osmand who provides fresh, delicious, organic herbs from his garden for our boxes! They're yummy & I know you all enjoy them.
Thanks, Paul!

SAGE
Is coming out soon! Exciting! Thanks to Gem for putting it all together!
I certainly can't wait to have a read.

Community Dinner
The next fun-filled, mega-friendly Marrickville community dinner will be Monday 18 August. More details next week. Email Lauren or Ryan if you want more info straight-away.

Film Screening--Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil
This film promises to be thought-provoking; it's amazing what people are capable of in a tight spot. Inspiring, really.
Join your fellow co-opers for the screening at 4:00 pm Sunday 24 August at 2 Woodcourt Street, Marrickville. Bring snacks to share!

Co-op Crawl (coming soon!)
Wanna check out other Sydney co-ops? Feel the alternative vibes, check out the diverse products? Come along on the co-op crawl. Tentatively scheduled for September, with details to follow. Express your interest in shop!

Meet the Chickens (coming soon!)
So last year, the chicken visit got thoroughly washed out. However, we are full of glistening hope for a sun-shinier day this time 'round, probably in early October. Once again, express your interest in the shop!

Nothin' you can do that can't be done, nothin' you can sing that can't be sung

Party nights leave me sparkling, sort of like conferences and cookouts and any event that involves fluttering around looking after completely beautiful people. Yes, I probably do mean you.

Tonight I am bubbling (just ask my flatties) with love and gratitude--for life and friendship, for sunshine and for midday rain. Life is very, very good. I'd tally my blessings, but it would take all day, and I'd rather be livin' em. Wouldn't you?

Thought so.

I'll see ya'll at the co-op.

Love & peppermint tea,

Meghan
