Sunday slipped away like so much sand--reclaimed, reshuffled, and redistributed by the ocean, never to return in quite the same configuration. This is the nature of things, of wind and tides and perfect moments that slide warmly into memory.
We also reshuffle, remember, reinvent.
Sleeplessness and the sand in my hair hold on to the best parts of the day (and, coincidentally, ensure the bulletin goes out on time). Clearly there are perks to insomnia, though it does interfere with sunrise runs along the Sydney shore.
Still, let's top off a beautiful weekend, and start an awesome week, with a smile. Here's the good-good word:
News
The bulletin has gone cooperative! This means that different people will be writing different sections. It'll take some time to implement, but it'll be fun & help to ensure 1) lots of voices are heard and 2) good information doesn't fall through the cracks too often.
Here's a news update from our wondrous Lah:
Agenda from last Tuesday's General Meeting are attached. The next meeting is at noon, Tuesday, 2nd September; please send agenda items to me.

Supporting Gig featuring Tich, Megastick Fanfare and Fuji Collective
The environment collective are organising a vegetarian BBQ to support a music gig being played at the Roundhouse, as part of the Environmental Week festivities. The Enviro-collective are organising the ingredients and logistics, but have asked if co-op people could help out on the day. I imagine, 'on-the-day-tasks' might involve organising equipment, getting the BBQ started, food preparation and cooking. Please contact the Enviro Collective if you're interested in helping.
Volunteers
THANK YOU to everyone that's been lending a hand lately. It seems, every time I'm there, that the co-op is budding & blossoming with new members & volunteers. You're awesome.
If you're currently volunteering, we'd like to see you every week; if you're thinking about volunteering, there's always room for more! We could really use people to help our amazing Andrew pack up the veggies on Thursday mornings, for instance.
Please check the roster for available shifts. Training is Tuesdays & Wednesdays at 11:00am and 3:00pm. There is no training on Thursday 'cause it's just too busy. Training takes about an hour and earns you your first volunteer hour (and 25% discount). Cool, no?
Veggies
Spring is about to do its thing, and I'm pretty excited about the potential fruit and veggie developments. What luscious treats are around the corner? Grab a veggie box this week & find out.
As is tradition, you must have your veggie order in before we open Wednesday morning. For the record, we get there around 9:30am, so before that. Drop it in the box on Tuesday or slip it under the door if no one's home.
Oh, and please try to use bills over coins. Coins tend to roll off into the sunset like so much tumbleweed.
Cheers!
Eggs
Tonight Alice made this totally amazing quiche heaped with veggies (no cheese) and a quinoa crust. It was pretty amazing. If you're keen to get in on the experimental egg action, email Lah or Lauris with your egg order post-haste. Orders must be in by 11:00am Tuesday. Pick up is Wednesday afternoon/Thursday.
Community
OOPS!
I wanted to send a big apology out for totally forgetting the write-up for film night (though I managed to remember the attachment). I hear it was awesome. Thanks to the Marrickville crew for hosting, Angela for cooking & pulling it all together, and Lou for designing the flyer & all the other bits she no doubt did.
You're beautiful.

We'll be making rice paper from scratch and then turning them into the yummy rolls that we all know and love.
Sunday September 14: Sourdough Bread
This will cover how to make a good sourdough starter culture, then be prepared to get your hands messy as we do a big bake-up.
Sunday October 12: Preserves
For this workshop, we'll take advantage of the wonderful produce springtime brings us to make... well, whatever our inspiration creates!
Thoughtful Yoga
A reminder that you can take yoga for free at TF (on the lawn, unless it rains) every Thursday from 2 - 3. It's totally suitable for beginners, and mats are provided. Come check it out.
Eternal thanks to Tyler from Yoga in Daily Life Kensington for providing this amazing community service.Savor the Day
I've set this goal for myself to really & truly savor my time. Even on insomniatic evenings, I reflect on time spent picking through Glebe Markets, convenient cappuccinos, gusty winds on Sunday's beach, listening to a great demo, a truly productive hour of work. I grin at the day, and the night, even at now.
All of these are good things that, hopefully, will stay in the tangles of my grey matter, somewhere, for a long time.
We are, after all, the product of our experiences and the ways we chose to interpret them. We have our strengths, weaknesses, our tendencies this way and that. Gloriously imperfect, none of us are gods; and really, would you want to be? I find imperfection wholly endearing.
Ahh, but the girl rambles. Such is the life of a sleepy co-oper.
I hope everyone frolicked in the sun today, laughed into the blustering wind, smiled.
I'll see ya'll at the co-op.
With happiness pie & a prayer for health,
Meghan
