Bulletin - Semester 1 Week 5

Happy Easter Long-weekend to those celebrating it for it's original meaning, those that enjoy delicious cocoa bean goodness and all those that just appreciate an extra long public holiday.  I spent the last three days in the wilderness of Wollemi National Park, surrounded by blaring ghetto blasters pumping the soundtrack to the new Fast & Furious movie, screeching youths up at the crack of dawn practicing their totem tennis skills and the very finest specimens of 'authentic australians', easily identified by the stubby clutched in one hand providing vital hydration on a 9km walk to see glow worms.  Not quite the weekend 'getting away from it all' that I expected, but hilarious never the less.  The road there rattled our radiator so much it started sputtering green ooze like a snotty toddler and our butane cylinder reached empty half way through lunch, but hey! Dinner was to be baked potatoes and corn, right out of the fire, so all was good.  It's a quiet week this week, the shop is only one day, but if you can lend a few hours, there's a bunch of autumn cleaning to be done.

Ordering Needs A Volunteer
From Suzie
We're looking for enthusiastic vollies to help with some activities to improve our product selection at TF. This will include updating the store inventory, researching product information and organising some upcoming events. Most of this work can be done outside of shop hours and will qualify you for in-store discounts. So if you would like to learn more about our products and have wanted to volunteer for us but couldn't make time before, this is the perfect opportunity! Please email orders@thoughtfulfoods.org.au if you're interested.
Cookbook
From Cassie
The next cookbook meeting is on Saturday 19 April, 11am at the shop.  Please RSVP to publishing@thoughtfulfoods.org.au

PRODUCT NEWS

From Suzie
This week your Co-op will be looking squeaky clean and well stocked up.  We have installed a temporary *Discounts Table* for old or slightly damaged stock that has been marked down to cost price.  This includes a big lot of chocolate that is past its used by date, but still very yummy.  Also on the table are alfalfa sees, spelt licorice, walnuts and currants.

COMMUNITY
Uses for Boxes...
As mentioned in previous bulletins, there are a number of styrofoam boxes piling up in the co-op and we were asking you all to come up with ideas for their use.  Creative Cam (as I will call him) quickly came up with the idea of worm farms but unfortunately they weren't quite the right type of box.
Not discouraged one bit, Cameron immediately came up with a Plan B: Balcony Herb Gardens - put some little blocks or similar underneath them to get them up off the ground for drainage and stop it getting too festy under there.
Thank you Cameron!
Keep those ideas coming in everyone and hopefully we'll inspire enough people to pick up some boxes and put them to good use.
