Bulletin - Semester 1 Week 9

Hello dear readers.  Firstly I'd like to apologise to Suzie for the incorrect heading for the Chai and Chat in last week's bulletin.  I wrote "This Weekend" and since it was actually on a Thursday I'm hoping I didn't lose too many readers with the incorrect line.  I know she sent out a reminder email throughout the week so hopefully it was a success.  My poor computer is struggling this evening trying to cope with the software I installed on it for uni.  It was already running in slow-mo, like a walkman coping with drained batteries, before I loaded it up with more work, so, to be safe, I'd better send off the bulletin.  Otherwise I might be left with a gurgling melted mess on the table and no way of spreading the short, but sweet, news for the week:

We need more shop volunteers!
From Andrew
Our volunteer crew has, as expected, dwindled since the beginning of semester.  We still have heaps of work to do in the shop though!  We have had a few days where coordinators end up working their whole shift alone, unable to make time for a tea break!  We understand that assessment and cold (and rainy) weather may impede volunteering in some instances, but please remember that we need volunteers to function.
Not only is volunteering a great way to earn shop discounts, it is a practical method of procrastination and keeping busy helps you to ignore the less than optimal weather.
Even if you haven't volunteered before, please come by and help out if you have the time.  We really need you.
Boxes and bags
From Andrew
We're running low on boxes . . . again.  This makes it very difficult to set up for the fruit and vegetable boxes on Thursday morning and Neridah could be (should be!) spending her time taking comforting tea breaks.  You can help by doing the following:
  • Bring empty boxes to the co-op - if you don't know of any good locations, ask a coordinator for suggestions on campus.
  • Leave your box behind when you pick up your fruit and/or vegetables on Thursday.  Bring a bag (or two!) with you, instead.
  • Bring and donate old 'green bags' (colour is not important) for others to use.
 ThoughtfulFoods on flickr
From Andrew
I set up a flickr account for Thoughtful Foods soon after I was given a lot of photos of the gardening bee.  It hasn't been doing a lot since, but I just uploaded a photo of the rocket which is growing in my balcony garden.  If you have any co-op related photos, email them to me (info@thoughtfulfoods.org.au) along with a simple caption and I'll put it up on our page.
