Bulletin - Semester 1 Week 12

A warm winter welcome to my wonderful woolly weaders!  I spoke to my Brisbanite sister this afternoon and she was complaining that it was too cold.  Mmm... yes... don't you hate it when it's a chilly 22 degrees outside!  Its my second winter away from Canberra and I still have the expectation that when I look out to a grey day in the morning I'll need to brace myself against the frosty air when I step outside.  Still a good time to start testing those soup recipes I say!

Now, since my greeting seems to suggest I'm writing to sheepies, I'd like you all to follow me into the news...

Fairtrade Coffee & Tea Tasting!
From Suzie
We’ll be taking a break from study on Wednesday June 10th (STUVAC week) between 10-11am to try Fairtrade Coffee & Tea from around the world at Thoughtful Foods.
Come join us for a Free tasting session of Fairtrade organic coffee from East Timor, Columbia, PNG, Ethiopia and Mexico, and Fairtrade organic teas from Sri Lanka.  Decaf will be available and there will be Aussie tea and coffee to try as well as tasty treats for sale at our bake stall.

Also we’re looking for one more person to help out on the day, and one more espresso machine to borrow for the day.  If you can help with either of these things e-mail us at orders@thoughtfulfoods.org.au!

Boxes!
From Andrew
I have to send a very special thank you out to those lovely people who have been bringing along boxes for Thursdays.  We've had about the right amount of $10 and $20 sized boxes for the past few weeks.  Keep bringing them in though!
As for all the other box sizes, we're finding our stock levels very small each week.  The best way we can think of to combat this crisis is to ask people to bring their own bags to take their vegetables home in and leave the boxes behind.  Please remember to pack a few empty bags with you when you drop by!
Also: we may have some spare, donated bags in the shop if you'd like to use one - ask a coordinator where they live if you're interested.)
Opening Hours Over Winter
From Andrew
It is now the beginning of week 12.  This means this is the final week that we are open on Tuesday and Wednesday.  From next week to the week ending 17 July we will only be open Thursday between 9am and 6pm.
Semester two coordinator positions - we want you
From Andrew
Coordinator positions are extremely fun and are probably a lot less difficult and demanding than you'd expect - especially with a large, supportive team.  We plan to begin discussing the semester two coordinator roster very shortly.  If you are even slightly interested in becoming a coordinator in the near future, or if you may like to take on a little more responsibility as a volunteer, please let Andrew (info@thoughtfulfoods.org.au) know by the end of this week.  (We will then make sure any coordinator training which needs to happen can be done before the end of the break.)

e-Waste Collection
From Suzie
There is a box on the coffee table in the co-op for small items (CDs, batteries etc.) of e-waste which will be picked up and taken to Sydney city council's e-waste depot by the lovely Fernanda. If you would like to bring in any small items of e-waste you have lying around the house, please do so before Thursday 11th June.
Position Available for Semester 2 - Bread Order Person
From Andrew
At the end of winter, Megan, our lovely bread ordering person, is going on maternity leave.  (Be sure to wish her all the best!)  This means we'll be in need of someone to take over her role for semester 2.  It would involve checking bread once (if!) it arrives on Thursday mornings, and ordering through our supplier any time on Friday or Monday.  Please let Andrew (info@thoughtfulfoods.org.au) know if you are interested or if you have any questions.
