Winter Solstice today! Shortest day of 2009! Did anyone partake in any pagan rituals? I went to the Blue Mountains for the Winter Magic Festival although my participation was limited to walking up and down the road, watching the parade, performances, bands (showing my appreciation by dancing) and sitting in various pubs. My fashion effort was very lame indeed and limited to hiking pants, boots and fleece in the most nondescript colours of khaki, washed out blue and black. Thankfully the fashion police didn't catch me. Maybe it was the 'forest elf' facepainting that let me blend in with the other magical winter weirdos dressed to the nines as bees, bee keepers, belly dancers, fairies, butterflies, elves, goblins and medieval knights! Save for the on-off rain and the afternoon mist that set it, it was a great weekend, topped off with a fantastic lunch at the Common Ground Cafe today. If you haven't been there, you absolutely must make an effort to go there (if you can find a table free). It's on the main street of Katoomba, the menu is simple and delicious and the atmosphere is warm, cosy and a little bit quirky.
It's a fairly quiet week in the bulletin this week, but there are a number of opportunities for you to make Thoughtful Foods contact by volunteering or just partying so make sure you note them in your diary.
But this week key senators said they want to delay the vote by launching an unnecessary inquiry, therefore delaying action on climate change.

This legislation was released for public review way back in December 2008, meaning senators have already had six months to consider it. This is more than enough time to consider a piece of legislation that is only 20 pages in length. We need immediate action and leadership on climate change - not further unnecessary delays!
