Volunteers needed for O-week
O-week is coming up soon (20th-25th Feb) and we’re looking for lots of vollies to help us spread the word about the co-op.
Exciting news - based on feedback from members (thanks!) we are looking at trialing extended opening hours in 2012. From late February onwards we're hoping the co-op will be open for an extra hour on Thursdays for late night shopping (so 9am-7pm) to make it easier to collect veg boxes and do your shopping! We are also hoping to trial opening from 10am to 1.30pm on Saturdays from late February onwards. The idea is to make the co-op more accessible to people and also make it easier for members to volunteer and get involved in the co-op outside our current weekday opening hours.
Do you care about where your food comes from? Want to be a part of an ethical community organisation?
Not only do we sell food, we're also a vibrant community! Thoughtful Foods is a place where people share ideas and develop friendships.
We are currently recruiting co-ordinators for 2012. We are also looking for someone interested in co-ordinating over summer and taking on a shop shift on Thursdays from 1pm-7pm. We're looking for responsible, committed, reliable individuals. We’re volunteer run, and need people who are good at working with volunteers.
Each coordinator should be able to commit 8-9 hours per week, including a 4-5.5 hour shop shift on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, and an organising role out of the shop (including regular meetings). The position lasts for 1 year.
Thoughtful Foods is located in a space most people wouldn't come across in their day to day activities (unless their activities involve trying to break into the back of the roundhouse for a late night concert!). We have a couple of signs and posters, but generally we depend on the word of mouth of our good members let others know we're here and to help us grow.
This year our turnover of both shop items and veggie boxes has been much smaller than previous years, and that has coincided with less volunteers around the co-op. Thoughtful Foods is run entirely by member volunteers, so before our strength diminishes further, we've put together a few suggestions that you can use to help us grow…

Tell Friends – Bring them along to show them the co-op, and let them know about our veggie boxes!
Volunteering
Thoughtful Foods is a volunteer-run co-operative, and we are always in need of extra hands to help with tasks inside and outside the shop. Volunteering is what makes the co-op a co-op. The only way we operate is through the hard work of all our volunteers. It also earns you a discount in-store
Training
Before you volunteer you need to complete one hour of training.
All new volunteers are given an introduction to Thoughtful Foods, food safety and OH&S. In session 2, 2011, training sessions are available on Tuesdays between 10.30am and 1pm, on Wednesdays after 3pm, and on Thursdays after 3pm. Sessions run for 30-45 minutes. Let us know if you would like to come to one by emailing training@thoughtfulfoods.org.au , or if you would like training but can't make these times, get in touch and we'll work something out
Volunteer roster
Thoughtful Foods has gathered an amazing collection of recipes over the years that use our products. If you would like to add one to the collection, email info (at) thoughtfulfoods (dot) org (dot) au

Our recent cake stall, fundraising for the peanut butter machine, was a huge hit. We had an impressive spread of cakes (thanks to all the Thoughtful Foodies who baked for us), and made over $550!
If you're keen to be involved in the next cake stall (Monday 16 August), email info@thoughtfulfoods.org.au.
