Volunteering

Volunteering

Thoughtful Foods is a volunteer-run co-operative, and we are always in need of extra hands to help with tasks inside and outside the shop. Volunteering is what makes the co-op a co-op. The only way we operate is through the hard work of all our volunteers. It also earns you a discount in-store

Training

Before you volunteer you need to complete one hour of training.

All new volunteers are given an introduction to Thoughtful Foods, food safety and OH&S. In session 2, 2011, training sessions are available on Tuesdays between 10.30am and 1pm, on Wednesdays after 3pm, and on Thursdays after 3pm. Sessions run for 30-45 minutes. Let us know if you would like to come to one by emailing training@thoughtfulfoods.org.au , or if you would like training but can't make these times, get in touch and we'll work something out

Volunteer roster

Once you have completed a volunteer training session, you can sign up for shifts by putting your name down on the roster located outside the Co-op. A maximum of two people can sign up per shift.

Volunteering tasks:

The main form of volunteering that members do at Thoughtful Foods is helping run the shop. This includes restocking barrels and jars, cleaning, washing up, using the till and generally helping people out. However, we're eager to provide alternatives for people who are simply unable to make it to the shop, or have small children. If you've got ideas for kid-friendly, out-of-shop activities or tasks that would be useful to the co-op, please email us (training(at)thoughtfulfoods(dot)org(dot)au)
